On Sunday the 2nd of June, Wicklow Archers Archery Club hosted stage three of their field archery league of 2013. The event took place in Dargle Valley, Enniskerry Co. Wicklow. Wicklow Archers is one of the few clubs that regularly hold field archery competitions.
To keep the competition
fresh the course designers changed some of the course around. For the first time in a non Open Championship the well known shot from atop the deck was included on the course.
The weather was much better this time round with the sun splitting the stones and no wind to contend with.
A total of 21 archers attended. The two most represented disciplines on the day were Senior Barebow and Senior Recurve with 5 entrants each.
For 3 people this was their first field shoot of the league, and for Stephen Kestell it was his first field competition shooting instinctive! In compound Brian Cullen was delighted with himself after shooting a PB.
As this is a league the best 3 of 10 scores from an archer will go towards their final standing. This is only the third shoot of the year so there is still plenty of time for anyone interested to get some scores in! Beginners are always welcome.
A big thank you must be given to the club members who took the time to design and construct the course and those who ensured the competition ran to plan.
The next league competition is on the 23rd of June. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
