The 2nd running of the Athboy open was not without drama, both on and off the shooting range. The range was setup to the usual Athboy standards with the PA system in full swing.
The shooting started off on time and was progressing rather ordinarily until the fateful 20min period where a freak gust of wind and extreme weather decided to try and remove one of the Marquees, from its static position, to one where it was extremely mobile and off down the field. If it wasn’t for the quick thinking of the archers, who where sheltering
underneath it, to grab the Marquee, it would have disappeared down range.
After about 20 minutes and the removal of the part destroyed Marquee, the shooting recommenced. There were no further panic situations for the rest of the day, although the weather did still take its toll throughout the day with numerous people dropping out at various points. We would like to thank all who attended day 1 and those that braved the whole day and finished what was an eventful day of archery.

Day 2:
After the experience of day 1, we decided to take down the Marquees and run the tournament from the container on our field. The weather was a lot better for the 720 qualifying with H2H’s. Although the numbers entered were down on day 1, the people who were shooting enjoyed the competition none the less.
