1. Safety
The safety regulations of Archery Ireland and C.C.N.E. are always in force. It is the
responsibility of the member to familiarise themselves with these safety rules as
contravention of them will lead to expulsion.
2. Shooting Times
There will be a weekly “club shoot”, the time and place (either indoor or outdoor) to
be decided on by the committee. In addition weekly outdoor shooting will be available
to members. The rules and conditions under which these will be conducted are laid
out below.
a) Club shoot:- Is open to, all members, Those taking part in beginners courses and
visitors who must be signed in by a member. All shooters must hold a current
Archery Ireland/C.C.N.E. insurance/membership and in the case of crossbow shooters they
must also hold a current firearms certificate.
a.1.) In the case of outdoor shooting, you can only shoot at the distances at which you
are qualified at and that distance at which you are trying to qualify.
a.2.) Only three arrows per end may be shot.
a.3.) Points must not be left in butts. Broken arrows and all pieces of same must be
removed and taken away.
b) Weekly outdoor shooting.:- Is open to all members.
b.1.) Shooting can only take place during daylight hours. Full visibility of our allotted
area for shooting is essential at all times.
b.2.) Members must hold current membership/insurance card and in the case of
crossbow shooters they must also hold a current firearms certificate.
b.3.) Shooting from the official shooting line only.
b.4.) If more than one shooter is in attendance only three arrows per end.
b.5.) Juniors are not allowed to shoot unless accompanied by an adult member (under
19yrs.).
b.6.) Seniors must be qualified to shoot at 30/35m to shoot on their own and can only
shoot at those distances at which they are qualified at or that distance at which they
are trying to qualify at.
b.7.) To shoot at the longer distances 90/65m., members must have satisfied the
committee as to their competency.
b.8.) Points must not be left in butts. Broken arrows and parts of same must be
removed and taken away.
b.9.) Depending on wear and tear on butts the committee may apply time restrictions
on this shooting time.
3. Competitions
All competitions must be run under the auspices of:- The Club, The Archery Ireland or The
C.C.N.E.
However, Members may decide to compete in or arrange other competitions under
their own auspices for which the club takes no responsibility, nor provides equipment
and as long as they do not contravene the safety regulations or bring the sport or the
club into disrepute, the club will take no action
Members may also be allowed to take part in postal competitions during “club shoot”
and “weekly outdoor shooting” provided it does not interfere with the normal
business of other shooters.
4. Fees.
It is the members’ responsibility to ensure that their fees and the fees of their guest
visitors are paid. The treasurer has enough work to do and is under no obligation to
chase delinquent members for money.
5. Shooting Locations.
Shooting can only take place in those areas designated by the Archery Ireland, the C.C.N.E.
or clubs affiliated to these bodies.
6. Complaints.
Complaints other than those dealing with safety issues will only be dealt with when
submitted in writing to the committee. Whilst complaints dealing with safety issues
will be dealt with immediately, it is possible that written descriptions of events leading
to the complaint may be requested later.
Remember it is your club and will only succeed if you play your part willingly.
