Irish Archers to compete in Inaugural European Games.

Archery Ireland is pleased to announce that two Irish archers will be competing in the Irish team at the inaugural European Games to be held in Baku later this year.  Irish archers competing in the European Games qualification tournament in Greece this week, secured a place in both Male Recurve and Female Recurve sections.

Irish archers secured the silver and bronze medal in the male recurve section of the European Games qualification tournament, Dolmen Archers Darren Wallace took silver after losing out 6, 4 in the final head to head competition to Slovakia’s Vladimir Hurban.  Also of Dolmen Archers, Micheal Irwin secured bronze winning 7, 3 in his match against Bulgaria’s Vasilve Yavor Hristov.  In the female recurve competition Dublin Archers, Sinead Cuthbert Cunningham took bronze after a 6, 4 win over fellow countrywoman Liffey Archers Sarah Dunne.

The final rankings ensure that Irish Archery will be represented at the European Games in July in both male and female categories.  Two Irish teams travelled to Greece for this weeks tournament, which was held as part of the European Grand Prix.
