General Rules

There is an open division instead of a gents division; this will allow the top level lady archers more competition if they wish. There will still be a ladies division.Ladies may shoot 5 open and 5 ladies events to attempt to qualify in both. The same would apply with Master/Seniors and all Junior Categories/Seniors.

Qualification:

  1. The All Ireland archery series will consist of 5 by 2 day qualification rounds and finishes with a 1 day  round robin head to head and knockout event to decide  the overall winners for each category.
  2. Each competition will take place once a month running through April to August with the final taking place  during the month of September/October.  The first leg of the All Ireland Series will be hosted by a club from the province of Ulster, clubs may bid to host this leg of the event, and the final leg will be hosted by a club from Munster, again clubs can bid to host this leg of the series.
  3. The weekend qualification rounds will consist of a double 720 on day 1 and a 720 and head to heads on day 2.  Each day will be treated as a single scoring event for selection for the All Ireland Series finals.
  4. Ranking for the finals will be decided on the best five scores (from a possible 10) submitted by an archer in the category they are eligible to compete in.  Archers who are eligible to compete in more than one category may do so provided they submit 5 distinct scores for each category they wish to compete in.
  5. In the qualification events, competitors can score up to 20 points per day. Points will be awarded in decreasing order to the archers scoring the next highest position. There will be a possible maximum of 40 points obtainable over a weekend.
  6. For Day 1, double 720 round, first place will gain 20 points, second place 18 points, third place 16 points, fourth place 14 points and 5th place to 16th place 12-1 points.
  7. For Day 2, 720 round followed by H2H knockouts, the archers who are knocked out in the 1/8 round will receive 5 points each, archers knocked out in the quarter finals receive 10 points each, the archer placed 4th will receive 14 points, the archer placed 3 will receive 16 points, the archer placed 2nd 18 points and the 1st placed archer will receive 2o points
  8. Archers best 5 scores will go towards their total points for the series. Archers must shoot on at least 5 of the scheduled days to gain qualification to the finals.
  9. In the case where there is a draw on points in the series league table. The higher rank will be decided by the next best series score of the ones not already counted for qualification.
  10. In a case where this still results in a draw, the archer with the highest average 720 score will be ranked higher.
  11. Any archer who withdraws from a competition after the first 3 ends have been shot will have their score considered for series ranking points.

Finals:

The finals round robin head to head format will allow qualification for up to sixteen archers in each category.  If a category has less than sixteen competitors then the cut off will fall to twelve.  If a category has less than twelve entrants then the cut will fall to eight, if less than eight the cut will fall to four. Archers competing in the round robin will be awarded points for each match as follows:  Win 3 points, Draw 2 points Lose 1 point.  The highest ranked archer in each group will move forward to compete in the knockout stage.

At the end of the round robin rounds there will be four archers remaining to shoot for bronze and gold medal matches. These will be the top qualifying archers from each round robin group

If there are ties within the Round Robin groups these will be resolved via a one arrow shoot off for each place. With nearest to centre taking the top position, next nearest taking next position, and so on till all ties are resolved.
