World Archery (FITA) award pins for progression in an entry level archery program. The purpose is to reward and motivate beginner archers and mark their progression in competency. There are two categories of reward:

World Archery (FITA) Feathers in Red and Gold for young and special needs beginners.

World Archery (FITA) Arrows in white, black, blue, red and gold for everyone.


To qualify for any of these awards an archer has to fulfil certain criteria in terms of:

  • score
  • skills development
  • knowledge and/or know-how’s.

World Archery (FITA) Cadet Stars

World Archery (FITA) Cadet Stars are awarded under the same rules asWorld Archery (FITA) Stars but are only for archers competing in the Cadet (U18) category. They are identical toWorld Archery (FITA) Stars except that any gold colouring on theWorld Archery (FITA) Star is replaced by silver. Cadet Boys shoot 70m,60m,50m,30m while Cadet Girls shoot 60m,50m,40m,30m.

World Archery (FITA) Stars

World Archery (FITA) Stars are available to recurve or compound archers competing in registered World Archery (FITA) Star events and are for

  • Full World Archery (FITA) (90m,70m,50m,30m) and
  • Ladies’World Archery (FITA) (70m,60m,50m,30m).

World Archery (FITA) Stars are for scores of 1000 (white), 1100 (black), 1200 (blue), 1300 (red), 1350 (gold) and 1400 (purple).

Compound Stars have the gold FITA Star on a coloured circular background whereas Recurve Stars, (with the exception of the 1000 Star which has no background), have a coloured shield for a background.

Only one Star may be claimed for each score although archers may purchase lower level FITA awards if they hold a higher FITA award than the one they wish to purchase. Claims for 1350+ Compound Stars and 1300+ Recurve Stars are individually processed by FITA.

World Archery (FITA) Target Awards

The World Archery (FITA) Target Award is awarded for the rounds and scores listed below. Only one badge of each colour can be claimed regardless of the round shot.

The WA (FITA) 70m, WA (FITA) 60m, WA (FITA) 50m all consist of 72 arrows but the Half WA (FITA) involves 18 arrows shot at each distance over the round required for a WA (FITA) Cadet Star by that archer, (70m,60m,50m and 30m for boys and 60m,50m,40m and 30m for girls). The WA (FITA) 900 is a 90 arrow competition while the 25m and 18m WA competitions are 60 arrow indoor events.

WA Arrowheads

WA Arrowheads are awarded to archers who meet the specified score over a 24 or 48 Target Marked or Unmarked rounds in a registered WA field event. There is a distinction made between Compound and Recurve in terms of the award and only one Arrowhead of each colour may be claimed.

Student Awards (Administered by the ISAA)

Student Awards are available in White, Black, Blue, Red and Gold for scores, as outlined in the table below, achieved in an indoor WA-18. To qualify you must be a current student, or shooting under your Year’s grace.
